My awkward Granola Hipster feet.
In choosing my blog’s name, I wanted it to be all encompassing, succinct, and clever. Let’s be honest, everyone wants to be clever. I’m just not afraid to admit it. Thus I chose Granola Hipster. But what is a Granola Hipster?
According to Urban Dictionary (a very reliable source):
Granola is an adjective used to describe people who are environmentally aware. In other words, a flower child or tree-hugger.
Hipster is a subculture of men and women typically in their 20′s and 30′s that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, and witty banter.
Seeing as I am a small-town barista who enjoys painting, rock climbing, and good coffee while also being vegan, I’m about as cliche as they come. Did I mention I graduated with an English writing major? So in choosing a title for my blog, I figured I should go ahead and point out this platitude before it gets pointed out to me. I realize who I am and what I am, and I own it. I’m a granola hipster!
